Sheridan Smith age and TV shows ahead of Coming Home special

Sheridan Smith returns to our screens tonight in a one-off special that follows the actress and singer as she returns to her home town of Doncaster.

It is the first time that she has been there since her father passed away and it sees her prepare to do a one-night performance at a venue where she used to sing with her parents.

The British star has performed in a number of popular TV series as well as various West End shows and has just released her second album A Northern Soul.

As well as following Sheridan’s preparation for the live show, she also talks about her recent struggles and how her family has affected her career.

Sheridan Smith started her career on stage and has gone on to perform in various theatre roles.

The 37-year-old has been in musicals such as Bugsy Malone, Little Shop of Horrors and Into The Woods, as well as theatre performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Taming of the Shrew.

Some of Sheridan’s earliest TV appearances include small roles in The Royle Family, Holby City and Dark Ages.

Her career then began to take off in 2001 when she starred as Janet Keogh in the BBC sitcom Tow Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

She then had roles in Gavin & Stacey, Benidorm, Jonathon Creek and Mrs Biggs.

In the 2015 New Year Honours list Sheridan Smith was included for her services to drama and was awarded an OBE.

Sheridan then went on to release her first album in November 2017 which was called Sheridan and it peaked ninth in the UK charts.

She then did her first solo tour across the UK with nine live shows in April 2018, followed by her second album – A Norther Soul which was released in November 2018.

Sheridan Smith: Coming Home airs on Sunday on ITV at 9.30pm.
