Suranne Jones took home the award for lead actress at the 2016 BAFTA TV Awards.
Her stunning performance as Gemma Foster in relationship drama Doctor Foster saw the actress continue her winning streak from the National Television Awards.
She saw off stiff competition from Claire Foy in Wolf Hall, Ruth Madeley in Don’t Take My Baby and of course Sheridan Smith in The C-Word.
Smith looked like a dead cert to take home the prize, but the night belonged to Jones.
The former Coronation Street star has recently given birth to a son, and quipped on stage that she had been left with ‘baby brain’.
