ITV is bringing us a new show tonight, as Starstruck hits screens for some Saturday night entertainment.
Hosted by Olly Murs, the new series will see everyday people become extraordinary stars for one night only.
The panel consists of Sheridan Smith, Jason Manford, Beverley Knight and Adam Lambert, who’ll be on hand to offer praise and critique on the contestant’s performances.
Understandably, the show is being likened to 90s show Stars In Their Eyes, but how similar are they exactly?
How similar is Starstruck to Stars In Their Eyes?
Describing Starstruck, ITV have said the performers will undergo an ‘extraordinary transformation.’

‘Leaving their day jobs behind, members of the public will be transformed into their most beloved music star for one night only. But they won’t be on stage alone. Instead, they’ll be teaming up as trios who all share the same love of a music icon to give the performance of a lifetime,’ they said.
‘With an expert glam team to oversee their extraordinary transformation, impressive staging and a spectacular sound and light show, our singing stars will be getting the complete ‘superstar experience.’
At the end of each episode, there’ll be ‘an exciting finale which sees the winning trio compete against each other for a place in the grand final,’ where they could walk away with ‘life-changing’ cash.
Where else would you find the likes of Ariana Grande, Tina Turner, Lady Gaga and Elton John, all singing for a shot at £50,000? Only on ITV Saturday nights!

The show sounds incredibly similar to the much-loved Stars In Their Eyes, which also saw everyday folk transform into their favourite performers for a night of glitz and glam.
In the classic talent show with a twist, contestants weren’t necessarily showcasing their singing abilities, but rather how well they could mimic their fave singers.
However, there wasn’t a mega cash prize for the original version.
When was Stars In Their Eyes on?
Who can forget contestants walking through those smoky doors and saying, ‘Tonight, I’m going to be…’

The TV talent series was based on Joop van den Ende’s Dutch format, Soundmixshow, which also featured a singing contest where members of the public impersonated showbiz stars.
The show premiered on in July 1990 and initially enjoyed a long run until December 2006.

It was produced by Granada for ITV and originally presented by Leslie Crowther, before Matthew Kelly took over in 1993, later being replaced by Cat Deeley in 2004.
There were a number of specials of the show, including an Elvis Presley special in 1993 and specials hosted by Davina McCall in 2003.
There were also special kids episodes.
The show was revived in 2015 and fronted by Harry Hill for a six-parter, however, it was later axed by ITV for poor ratings.
Starstruck airs tonight at 8:30pm on ITV.
