The BBC docudrama about the fake kidnapping of schoolgirl Shannon Matthews has been given the go-ahead despite being shelved last year.
And while Sheridan Smith was supposed to take on the role of Shannon’s mum Karen Matthews, it has now transpired she may be given the boot.
The two-part drama, which will be put together by factual drama expert Jeff Pope, has a working title of The Moorside Project and will begin filming later this year.
